Welcome Home, President Hinckley
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008It just now sets in that President Gordon B. Hinckley–my prophet–is gone. Well, it really set in during Seminary as we sang “We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet.” My class is normally extremely good at singing, but today none of us, no matter how hard we tried, could keep a pitch, as choked up as we were. Instead of normal lessons, we spent almost the entire time talking about President Hinckley. I didn’t know him as well as I should, but I always remember his sense of humor, at least, and how well he could connect with the youth of not only the LDS church, but the entire world. I love seeing pictures of him with the cane his doctor ordered him to use, carrying and waving it around rather than leaning on it.
